I am Dr. Sudipto K. Name Visible on Login. A first-generation immigrant from Kolkata, India, I have been living in the USA for the past 14 years and I am a permanent resident of the USA. Born in a cultured, traditional yet liberal, Hindu family from Kolkata, India, I grew up living in different regions of India, which truly broadened my horizons and helped me appreciate the cultural and linguistic diversity of India. As a child, I could speak over 6-7 Indian languages fluently (I still speak three and can manage a few more). Family is of utmost importance to me. I am very close and in touch with my family back in India and you won't find me lacking in dispensing my duties towards my family as a son. To describe myself in a few words, perhaps the best I can come up with is a seeker of truth. Search for truth in nature and service of humanity are the two life-long goals of my life. Through my work, I try to unravel 4 billion years of Mother Nature's secrets. I find myself blessed that my work... more can directly impact the lives of millions of people across the world.
Beyond work, I am deeply passionate about serving the poor and the underprivileged masses all over the world and do my bit regularly to that end. I am environmentally conscious and lead my life accordingly. When you meet me, chances are that you may notice my simplicity and humbleness, disarming lack of pretension, politeness and gentlemanly manners, and child-like innocence, qualities I've been taught, valued, and cultivated over my lifetime. Those who have known me well would describe me as an individual with impeccable honesty, integrity and strength of character, a responsible and hard-working person with a philosophical bent of mind. Like everyone else, I am not without flaws. Self-critical character analysis suggests I can be a bit laid-back (depending on the day and the mood, I could be either introverted or outgoing) and, an occasional procrastinator, and while today I exercise my mind, body, and soul regularly, it is fair to say health consciousness has come a tad late to me. Like a true Gemini, there is an emotional and intellectual side to my personality. The intellectual me is rational, driven by logic and reasoning rather than faith or pre-conceived notions, craves mental stimulations and keeps a tab, be it science or technology, philosophy, or psychology, and aspires to live a life of simple living and high thinking. The emotional me is loving, caring, sensitive to feeling other's pain/feelings, occasionally prioritizing others over self-interest.
Education and career: After completing my Undergraduate education (Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology) in India, I came to the USA in 2008 to join the PhD. Program in Genetics from Stony Brook University (Long Island, New York). I performed my dissertation research in Human Genomics at the world-renowned Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York, followed by a year of post-doctoral fellowship. In 2016, I moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts and joined the R&D team of an exciting start-up as a Scientist. Currently, I lead multiple teams of talented scientists and researchers as Director, Research and Development, of a global biotech MNC in the Greater Boston area, and I intend to continue biomedical research as my career. Having prioritized & reached a certain level of stability in education, career, immigration/visa status and personal financial security, I believe now is the right time for me to focus and prioritize personal (marital) life and relationships, which is why I am here.
While I have come a long way from my humble beginnings and yet continue to be very ambitious towards achieving my goals, I also believe in living life to the fullest and being in the moment. I aspire to pour every bit of life in every passing day and live each day as if it is my last, for the richest place on earth is a graveyard, where else can one find a collection of unaccomplished dreams and regrets. Not the most materialistic-minded individual, life for me is an accumulation of experiences, rather than an accumulation of wealth and possessions.
Passions/Interests:
Travel: Love exploring new places, mountains to oceans. It is my dream to travel the whole world and I hope to make this dream a reality. Love travel planning. Fair warning: my travel plans have often been obscure, off the beaten road, with a dash of adventure sprinkled in.
Thrill/Adventures: The bucket list is long, some of the things I have enjoyed the most in the past include flying an aircraft, white-water rafting, driving racing cars on NASCAR racing tracks, helicopters and hot-air balloons rides, sailing, etc.
Pets: Absolutely adore pets, grew up with multiple pets (dogs, cats, birds and more) throughout my childhood and would absolutely love to have pets as part of the family.
Sports: Cricket (religiously), Lawn tennis, Soccer and table tennis. Played them all as a kid, and now a passionate spectator.
Music: grew up listening to Indian music, over the years, I have grown to be a huge fan of instrumental music, particularly background theme music in movies). Hans Zimmer, John Williams and Ramin Djawadi (among others) are some of my favourite composers.
Reading: is my way to ensure I continue to grow and mature, emotionally and intellectually, as a person.
Science/Technology: Passionately follow all things science and technology, from Quantum physics to Cosmology, Consciousness to Archaeology.
Dislikes: Entitled individuals, dishonest and disloyal individuals, disrespectful and impolite individuals, loud/noisy and crowded places.
In summary, I hope to meet individuals with broad and liberal outlook, well-educated, with passion and ability to achieve their own goals/career aspirations in life, but above everything, a kind, beautiful, strong yet compassionate human being whom I can respect, care and share life experiences ahead. One day, I hope to have a happy family where I can endow my next generation with the best of Eastern and Western civilizations so that they can get the best of both worlds and grow up to be truly world citizens.
If these ideas resonate with you, then I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in person.
