Hi there,
Hoping to use this little space of the Internet to give a tiny peek into who I am as a person.
I am a Bombay girl at heart (yes still Bombay over Mumbai) - was born and brought up there, did my education and also started my career in that city, Although I have been away from the city for over a decade now, the city does hold a special place in my heart (as I suspect most hometowns do) and I try and go home every year to visit my family and stay connected to the city.
I left home at the age of 25 to pursue a career opportunity in America. After a short stint in the Bay area, I moved to the beautiful city of Vancouver to pursue an MBA degree - and while it wasn't exactly love at first sight, instead my relationship with the city evolved much like an arranged marriage where you get to slowly know each other better, understand each others strengths and weaknesses, move to acceptance and perhaps love and before you realize that you are in fact already in a... more long stable and happy relationship with the one ;) (okay going to leave the rest of the romanticism for a post-retirement novel, back to reality now..).
By profession I work as a Director in a Tech Consulting firm and enjoy the variety and the fast paced nature of my work along with the high level of autonomy and entrepreneurship that my work provides. I am also fortunate that my professional skills give me the flexibility to relocate to any part of the globe and re-base my career. In terms of education I did my engineering in Computer Science from Mumbai followed by an MBA in Strategy and Marketing from the University of British Columbia,
Outside work I have a plethora of hobbies that I like to indulge in and try my best to balance. I LOVE to travel and enjoy meeting new people, experiencing new cultures and history and would love to meet someone with whom I can share this passion. Over the years I have had the opportunity to travel quite a bit of Europe, South and North America and Asia. Arts has always been a big part of my upbringing, especially growing up in a family which paid a lot of emphasis to arts and culture and for which I am deeply grateful for. Music is an integral part of my life and I enjoy a wide range of music from Indian classical to Jazz to old school and progressive rock. I love listening to music live and love taking the opportunity to go to music concerts and festivals. Besides music, I love to dance, watch foreign films and attend film festivals, theater, read books, paint and visit art galleries and museums. I am also very passionate about architecture and a good design especially gets me (and often my wallet ). In addition to art, I also love being active through a combination of sports, outdoor activities or regular workouts and swims. Food is another big passion of mine. I eat everything without discrimination and enjoy experimenting with food and love hosting friends over for big feats - nothing warms my heart more than having people gather around a table sharing laughs and ideas and experiences!
By nature I am out-going, free spirited, self-motivated and enjoy having fun. I have always shared a cosmopolitan and modern outlook towards life and am a fairly disciplined person by nature. While I am not religious, I do very much cherish our Indian traditions and will find every opportunity and excuse to participate in it. My friends would describe me as a connoisseur - I have a rich taste for good living and believe in working hard and enjoying the good things life and society has to offer while also cherishing simpler pleasures of being with family and loved ones.
Life has been wonderful so far - I have had the opportunity to experience a lot of life, gain wonderful experiences and make many memories, I have also had a chance to really get to know myself and evolve over the years. I am ready to move to the next phase of life and take on a whole new set of adventures and experiences, this time with a partner in crime.
